David Merrill has been with Davis Insurance since 1991 as
an insurance sales representative. Before coming to Davis Insurance, Dave managed the property
casualty agency for United Federal Savings Bank in Des Moines, Iowa and was president of the
Independent Insurance Agents of Des Moines. In 2004 Dave received the Big "I" President's Citation for
outstanding service to the Independent Insurance Agents Association. Dave, a 2005 inductee to the Iowa Rock N'
Roll Hall of Fame, is a local musician who brings a wealth of knowledge and valuable experience to
Davis Insurance.
Jerry Davis, CPCU, purchased Davis Insurance in 1990.
Jerry brought 35 years of experience as a claims representative for AID Insurance Company (Allied Group),
an agent for MRA Insurance Company (Shelter Insurance), and an agency owner/ manager for both the
Statesman Group and Grodt Moore Gregson to the then Verne Houghton Agency, a fixture in Des Moines'
Beaverdale areas for the previous 30 years. Jerry is a retired high school and college football
referee who loves classic cars, traveling and can be seen daily walking his 90 pound German Sheppard,
Sheba, around the Beaverdale neighborhood.
Sheba has been a staple to Davis
Insurance for the past 10 years. The agency mascot is a 90 pound German Shepherd, wolf hybrid mix. Sheba loves the Davis staff and looks forward to
her daily walk with Jerry down the streets of Beaverdale, where everyone knows her name.
Shawn Sly is a licensed personal lines
customer service representative who has been with Davis Insurance since 1997.
Shawn grew up in Des Moines' Beaverdale neighborhood and graduated from Hoover High School.
She enjoys her family, craft shows and her three dogs; Bryson, Lucy and Gracie Mae. Shawn brings exceptional and friendly service to our customers and is always happy to assist them.
Diane Pinegar is a licensed insurance
professional with 18 years experience and the only Davis Insurance employee
that came with the agency when it was purchased from Verne Houghton's estate in 1990.
Diane grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and moved to Des Moines' Beaverdale area over 20
years ago. Diane enjoys her family, traveling and long walks with her husband Mike
and dog Rusty. Diane's insurance knowledge and experience allow her to provide
unbeatable service to the agency's commercial customers.
Dana Bentzinger has been selling and
servicing life and health insurance products for over 20 years and has been
working with Davis Insurance Agency clients for the past eleven years. Dana
graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in finance from the business
college. Dana actively cheers on the Cyclones, Red Sox and his two sons as
they play soccer and tackle the small business world, respectively.
